Ponto-cho in Kyoto

Ponto-cho is a hanamachi district in Kyoto(geisha district) that is parallel to the Kamo-gawa River.

It is long and narrow road.I saw some women(maybe geisha) wearing yukata.

Lovery Chochin(japanese lanterns).

Kyoto Summer evening

The one scene of summer evening in Kyoto.

Take a photo from old small bridge. 

Children are playing in the river.

This place is near to the Gion,

 some foreigners also are walking around, take a rest in the bank of the river and take a photo...people do many things with this river.

2 kinds of Obiage and Obijime..
Obiage is like a silk scarf,it is used for wearing kimono.


Light blue one with bellflower design.
Fresh color.
Can you see lines?
These weaving are called 'Ro' which is a type of fabric made from silk.
It is used for summer season.

Next color is light cream. close to light yellow.

It was difficult to express an accurate color with a photograph.

and stripe? of light orange & white color.

This color also be useful for matching any colours of kimono and obi.

Ebi ceramic small plate or bowl

Ebi small ceramic plate.

diameter about 7.5cm.

This shape is bowl, so it's like a Ochoko.


Ebi means shrimp by japanese.
I think easy to remember word of 'Ebi' !

Today's flower in my room is Small sunflower.

I don't know the name of this flower...

Several Tsuru(cranes) are flying, and can see Mt. Fuji in the background.

Chataku means teacup saucers in Japanese.

They are made by Real leaves of Ho which are Japanese  magnolia.

It is the handmade product which just made use of the naturalness of the leaf

The darkening to look like a dirt is not stains.

This is because the real leaves.

Kinako cookies

Today,I made Kinako cokkies.
'Kinako' means soybean flour by english.

It is used with Japanese sweets,Wagashi.
It is mixed into cookie dough and is powdered on the surface of Cookie.
Sweet flavour of this cookie is only honey.
Healthy....

Raw Corn

I ate raw corn for the first time.

It is called 'fruit corn'.

It go on the market for several years.

I can bite easily even raw because the surface is soft.
It was sweet and was delicious.
Its sugar content is high even if I do not boil it.

It is not genetic modification.

a Single Flower

I live in the apartment, and I haven't my own garden.

Therefore I go to the neighborhood flower shop every week and buy a little flower.
and I decorate the room with flowers.

Beside TV.

White Kikyo by Japanese means 'Balloon flower' 

It is only a single flower,

but feels that a room  became the freshness and beauty very much.
